Step 1

Gather dates seeds, approximately 8-10 per cup of coffee. Wash to remove any sticky residue from the dates. Be sure to allow them to dry completely. Air drying may take 24 hours.

Step 2

Place clean and dry dates on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast the dates in the oven (similar to coffee or nuts) at 350 F/ 175 C degree oven on bake. Bake for 30-45 minutes. Allow dates to cool.

Step 3

Place roasted date seeds into an electric grinder (a coffee or herb grinder works best) and pulsate until seeds become powder.

Step 4

Sift the power to remove any larger chunks of seed and return those pieces to the grinder to reduce to powder.

Step 5

How to Brew Mojo-Jo Date Seed Coffee

Step 1

Heat the water to 195ºF/90ºC (just before it begins to boil).

Step 2

Combine the date seed powder and spices and mix well. Transfer this mixture to a coffee filter.

Step 3

Option 1: Pour the water over the powder and allow it to drip into a larger heat-proof container. We don't recommend the mug for drinking to avoid a mess or potential overflow. Use caution to avoid accidental burning.

Option 2: Brew your Mojo-Jo in your using a drip maker, coffee machine, french press, or espresso maker using the standard filter designed for your machine.

Step 4

Transfer to your mug. Add a sweetener of your choice, we like date syrup. Add your dairy, or non-dairy creamer as you prefer your coffee.

To prepare and store Mojo-Jo Date Seed Coffee

Store Mojo-Jo in an airtight container in a cool, dark location (like a pantry or kitchen cupboard) or your freezer for several months. We recommend fresh Mojo-Jo for optimal flavor. However stored properly, you can enjoy Mojo-Jo coffee for months into the future.

Note: For optimal flavor try to maintain a 1/10 ratio of Mojo-Jo to hot water.
