Ingredients
1LB (907g) Mojo Magic Medjool Dates
6 cups (1.5L) of water; reserve
Preparation
Step 1
Pit and Chop Dates
Using a full 1LB (907kg) box of Mojo Magic Medjool Dates, you'll first need to pit the dates and then chop them into several pieces.
Step 2
Boil Dates
Add the dates to a large saucepan and add enough water to cover the dates completely. Then bring to a low boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to simmer. Allow them to simmer for around one hour, stirring occasionally.
Step 3
Cool Down
Allow the mixture to cool for a further 20-30 minutes to avoid burning your hands in the next step
Step 4
Strain
Pour the contents of the pot (liquid and date pieces) into a strainer lined with cheesecloth. Then squeeze the dates to remove as much liquid as possible.
Step 5
Reduce
Pour the strained date syrup back into the pot and simmer over medium-low heat to thicken the syrup to your preferred consistency. Stir frequently to avoid burning.
Step 6
Store
Pour cooled date syrup into sealed glass container and store in the refrigerator for several weeks.
